My First Chiropractic Treatment

“I could not believe how free my body felt…I had this incredible feeling of relief and relaxation.”

People always ask me why I decided to become a Chiropractor.

What helped me choose my path was a combination of my passion for helping people, sport, and wanting to take a slightly different path than the typical.

I knew that I wanted to help people by being a doctor after watching my favourite TV show ER. I then began thinking about what kind of doctor I wanted to become. I liked sports, and had my fair share of sports injuries, so I thought something working with sports would be great.

Around this time, my mum heard about someone who was studying to be a Chiropractor, that was the first time I had ever heard about Chiropractic. She told me that a Chiropractor is a doctor that helps treat people who have pain in their body, including sports injuries, and that they use a specific technique called a Chiropractic adjustment that realigns the spine, which helps the body heal itself. I thought to myself ‘that sounds amazing!’. I can be a doctor who is able to help people who are in pain by using this cool non-invasive technique. I had to go and experience this for myself.

My First Visit to the Chiropractor

So I went to the Chiropractic clinic where I met a 6th year student who gave me my first treatment. After going through a thorough assessment of my health history and a physical examination, he performed a sports massage and stretches.

I was now ready for my first adjustment, or as people call it, click/crack. After explaining to me what he was going to do, I must admit that I was nervous, but was curious to know what it felt like. The student told me to try and relax my body, take a deep breath in and out, and then he adjusted my back. I remember hearing these clicks in my back – it was ridiculously awesome! I then stood up, moved my back in all directions, and could not believe how free my body felt. I had no idea my back was so tight, or how loose it was supposed to feel, and after the adjustment I had this incredible feeling of relief and relaxation. It was then that I knew that I wanted to be a Chiropractor, and help others feel such relief.

Since Then

That has always been my aim – to help people, relieve their pain so that they can feel free, and also to give people awareness of their bodies and how they can work with me to stay this way through education and exercise.

I feel so grateful that I get to do such rewarding work! There is nothing better than having a person tell you how good they feel and how much you have helped them.

My desire is to keep pushing myself to be the best Chiropractor and healer I can be. There is so much information and new discoveries these days and I am a firm believer in continuing to learn so that I can give the best treatment possible for my patients to get the most effective results.

Thank you for reading my first blog post. I look forward to sharing my knowledge, experiences, advice and passion for helping people.

I’ve got your back,
